I found your piece in a search. <br />I was there with half of Lansing it seems on the night of the fire, and shot a roll of Kodachrome with a camera on a tripod. It is amazing to me how few photos seem to be available on the internet regarding the fire. Sometimes a character(or real life human) will use the abuse or trauma of their youth as an excuse for bad behavior or attitude, but the real heroes and heroines are the ones who decide that in spite of what they have personally lived through, they will be better than that. That overcoming the past is redemption.Skyewriterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08938351117986167519noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6233003946884986046.post-10134186509691823302022-10-22T05:05:33.274-04:002022-10-22T05:05:33.274-04:00Your friend Eldin seems very realistic. As a reader, if the action starts getting bogged down in description, I start skipping. I like Blair Howard's series with Lt Kate Gazzara so thought I'd also enjoy the Harry Stark series - NOT SO MUCH, the man is label fixated on every piece of clothing he wears, or holster or firearm etc. Just too exhausting and not interesting. Beside the fact that any man that aware of all the designer stuff he put on his body wouldn't appeal to me anyway. There is a huge difference between the author knowing it all and telling it all. Great point....Skyewriterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08938351117986167519noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6233003946884986046.post-49077944276893742322022-09-24T14:22:14.517-04:002022-09-24T14:22:14.517-04:00Hi Robin, I wrote exactly the same about the chara...Hi Robin, I wrote exactly the same about the character's background and serving the story's purpose. It's a lot more fun to read series where the characters do grow and change - it makes them more relatable and real. So, just for our round robins, I open Chrome. Then, I can at least post as one of my "identities," though not the one I'd prefer.
